Stanford Graphic Novel Project: Pika-don

2010 I participated in the Stanford Graphic Novel Project, a seminar in which students wrote, illustrated and produced a 182 page graphic novel that we then self-published. For our project we memorialized the recently deceased Tsutomu Yamaguchi. The Japanese engineer was known for having been unfortunate enough to experience both the bombing of Hiroshima and the subsequent bombing of Nagasaki, and lucky enough to have survived both times. In the post-war period he became a vocal advocate for nuclear nonproliferation.

I was part of the thumbnail team, meaning I interpreted the script into page layouts, lettering and panel framing. I also illustrated many pages myself. Below are a few selections of my work from the book. I thumbnail all selections, and illustrated them unless otherwise noted.
